The Logo of People’s College & Its Relevance
At the top inside, the shield-shaped logo of the college has the famous quote “Yoga: Karmasu Kausalam”. This great verse from chapter 2 of the Bhagwat Gita implies that Sincerity, Perseverance and Devotion to duty lead to perfection. This idea serves as the guiding principle of the institution.
The left side of the logo shows a temple, a range of mountains and the rising sun. The temple symbolizes the Biranchi Narayan Temple of Buguda, which stands as a rare feat of woodcraft and wall paintings. The mountain range represents the serene Budhagiri mountains, which have unquestionable historical importance and deep connections with Buddhist learning & teachings. The rising sun represents the Sun God, the patron deity of the locality.
The logo of the college has a book and a burning lamp at the base of it. The book and the lamp symbolize that the college spreads education & enlightenment by eradicating the darkness of ignorance and illiteracy.
The right side of the logo has a rocket soaring high into the sky and a floating ship on the undulating waves of the ocean. The rocket represents the provision and importance of science education, while the floating ship represents the rich history of trade & commerce in Odisha. It needs special mention that the drive to open this college was initiated by staging a play with the title ‘Bhasa Boita’ in the locality. Therefore, the floating ship in the logo is also asymbolic presentation of people’s participation in the making of the college.
